Megagreen had been a STRICTLY TRADE ONLY business helping to educate and warn of the dangers of HIGH POWER lasers , however as megagreen shows up high on search engine listings media enquiries have been of late at the rate of 25 a day due to the virgin atlantic incident in Feb 2016. Some media outlets have also treated megagreen in a negative manner although megagreen had met a legitimate market for trading ONLY with universities , special effects companies , research departments , verified buyers etc and although the site helped educate and warned of the dangers of high powers lasers a decision has been made to withdraw from the market of hand portable lasers and modules.

The problem of HIGH POWER LASER PENS AND POINTERS in UK in the hands of general public was not created or encouraged by legitimate traders or websites in UK , to deal with the issue of mass abuse of high power lasers , the authorities need to REDUCE the number of high power laser pens in the country and to do this they need to tackle offshore sites glamourising the use of of HIGH POWER LASER POINTERS and more importantly AUCTION SITES that allow the daily , hourly ! sale of HIGH POWER laser pens.

Dr John O’Hagan, laser safety expert at Public Heath England has stated “eBay needs to crack down on the sale of these items to keep the British public safe – and prevent a major incident.” (Article in the THE SUN )

A standard presentation laser 1mW Class 2 ( shown below ) the light is unable to travel far as can be seen from image and is designed for indoor use so its clear the issues of planes being targeted is by use of far more POWERFUL LASERS such as those being imported from offshore sites and auction sites

The media has not been unreasonable in their treatment of HIGHER POWER laser pens and the irresponsible use of them , the fact is far too many irresponsible idiots have been able to purchase and obtain them over the last few years however its not been through niche trade sites like ours who educated the public NOT to buy high power laser pens.

The confusion however between a standard EU legal laser pointer ( See image above ) that does not have ability to disturb a plane due to low power and the illegal HIGH POWER laser pens easily obtainable via auction sites has meant we have decided its simply no longer worth the hassle to continually explain the differences and the nuances of the law. At peak over 50 contacts a day were coming from TV and newspaper organisations around the world and its clear the lack of understanding surrounding lasers , the law , and a lasers abilities is astounding.

Look at the image above , any laser that does not provide a light output like this in green , red or blue is most likely too powerful to be freely available in the general publics hands and should only be sold to restricted organisations with legitimate uses.Any laser more powerful should not be freely available on auction sites etc ... the laws and recommendations are currently in existence to prevent sale of HIGH POWER LASERS to the general public in UK however this is being made a mockery of by sellers on auction sites lying about power output , Claiming to be 1mW yet advertising as "5 mile laser" , "burning laser "and offshore sites advertising via sponsored adverts illegal lasers for sale to public, direct import into UK.

Clearly this is how so many high power lasers are being obtained by idiots
